Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that primarily affects the face and is characterized by visible blood vessels and facial redness.

If the patient also has the subtype of rosacea known as papulopustular rosacea, they may develop papules or pustules (that is, pimples with or without pus), mainly on the cheeks, nose, and forehead.

It usually appears in adults, particularly in individuals aged 30–50, and more commonly affects the central part of the face (cheeks, nose, forehead, chin).

The cause of rosacea is multifactorial and involves immune mechanisms, genetic predisposition, vascular dysfunction of the skin, and microorganisms such as Demodex folliculorum.

The condition often presents with periods of flare‑ups and remissions and may be worsened by factors such as sun exposure, extreme temperatures, stress, spicy foods, alcohol, and certain cosmetics.

The therapeutic approach includes: topical anti‑inflammatory and antibiotic treatments, systemic antibiotics for moderate or severe forms, management of vascular lesions with laser or phototherapy, sun protection and avoidance of known triggers, and daily gentle skincare.
